About the role - Senior ETL Tester (Permanent | Sydney only | Full Work rights Required)

We are seeking an experienced Senior ETL Tester to join our client's technology team in Sydney. This permanent, onsite role requires full Australian work rights and offers the opportunity to contribute to high-visibility transformation initiatives. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and quality of complex database systems by performing advanced SQL-driven testing, validating large datasets, and supporting end-to-end and integration testing efforts across enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders in an Agile environment to clarify requirements with a focus on testability, consistency, and completeness.
• Design comprehensive test plans and define clear testing strategies for functional, non-functional, and ETL testing.
• Plan, prioritize, and execute end-to-end testing, including system integration, database/ETL, API/Microservice, and web application testing.
• Perform manual testing and contribute to automation testing efforts to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Conduct thorough database testing using SQL and relational database management systems (Oracle, SQL Server) to validate data accuracy, integrity, and transformations.
• Develop complex SQL queries for test data creation, joins, aggregate functions, CASE statements, and large dataset validation.
• Execute API and Microservice testing using tools like Postman, SoapUI, and automation frameworks; demonstrate API automation expertise during the interview.
• Engage in defect management and resolution, ensuring timely reporting and closure of issues.
• Work with enterprise-level test management tools such as HP QC, PractiTest, and JIRA.
• Test web applications across multiple browsers and platforms to ensure functionality, responsiveness, and user experience.
• Contribute to the automation testing strategy and maintain automated test scripts.
• Understand and analyze business requirements, technical specifications, and ETL workflows.
• Provide clear, effective communication with teams and stakeholders through written and verbal channels.
• Knowledge of Settlements and Prudentials is highly regarded.

Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in software testing, with at least 8 years in end-to-end, database/ETL, integration, and API/Microservice testing.
• Strong expertise in SQL scripting, database testing, and ETL validation with large datasets.
• Extensive experience in API automation testing and ability to demonstrate automation frameworks.
• Hands-on experience in web application testing across multiple browsers and platforms.
• Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and processes.
• Experience with test management tools (HP QC, JIRA, PractiTest) and defect tracking.
• Knowledge of automation testing tools and frameworks is highly desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience in Retail or NEM domains is a plus.
• ISTQB or equivalent testing certification is a plus.
