Your new role

Are you an experienced Gardener looking for a great new opportunity? Rockhampton Regional Council are currently looking for a Gardener to join their Nursery team.

As the Nursery Gardener, you'll be responsible for the daily operations of Council's nursery, including plant propagation, horticultural maintenance, and care of a diverse range of species.

Your expertise will support the health and growth of nursery stock used across Council's parks and open spaces, contributing to the region's environmental and landscaping goals.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience in nursery operations, including plant propagation, irrigation systems, weed control, and nutrition programs
  • Passion for horticulture, with knowledge of botanical research and plant conservation
  • Ability to care for a diverse range of plant species and maintain nursery stock to a high standard
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service
  • Commitment to workplace safety and contributing to Council's Safety First culture
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
