About Us:

Barden Farms is a vertically integrated farming operation that grows, packs, and distributes fresh vegetables daily to numerous customers. Barden Farms consists of multiple farming operations, along with production and dispatch facilities. These operations are to work together as a team to provide fresh, high quality produce in a timely manner to their customers.

The Position:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Internal Auditor with experience or strong interest in the horticulture industry. This role is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, compliance, along with our existing processes. The successful candidate will provide insights and recommendations that enhance operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable agricultural practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute internal audits across operations, including production, procurement, inventory management, financial processes, and environmental compliance.
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify weaknesses, inefficiencies, or potential risks.
  • Conduct audits of financial records, cost structures, and budgetary controls related to horticultural activities.
  • Review adherence to industry-specific standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP) and company policies.
  • Assess compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations and sustainability protocols.
  • Work closely with farm and finance teams to understand operational challenges and provide actionable insights.
  • Draft clear, comprehensive audit reports with recommendations and follow-up actions.
  • Assist management in developing corrective action plans and monitoring implementation.
  • Participate in risk assessments and report on risk management issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, agricultural legislation, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, CISA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of internal auditing experience, preferably within agriculture, horticulture, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, internal controls, and audit methodologies.
  • Familiarity with horticulture production systems, supply chain operations, or agri-business processes is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and regulatory standards in the agricultural sector is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and auditing software/tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in field and office settings.
  • Willingness to travel to farm sites and facilities as required.
