Konomie Island Environmental Education Centre (EEC) is seeking a dynamic and safety-focused Boating Officer to join our team.

This is a unique opportunity to combine your maritime expertise with environmental education in a stunning island setting.

About the Role

As the Boating Officer, you will:

  • Command and operate boats as both a floating classroom and transport vessel for students and teachers to field sites.
  • Deliver engaging safety talks and provide leadership in safe boating operations, including navigation, radio communications, and equipment handling.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all passengers onboard during excursions.
  • Plan and conduct preventative maintenance of boats and equipment, including mechanical and shipwright repairs.
  • Assist with land-based maintenance of grounds and facilities when required.

About You

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Mandatory qualifications: Current Master 5 certification, First Aid and CPR certification, and a valid Queensland Working with Children Blue Card.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a focus on problem-solving and teamwork.
  • A commitment to safety, environmental sustainability, and cultural respect.
