About The Role
We are searching for a driven, proactive
Payroll Manager
who thrives on complex problem solving and thinks two steps ahead. You will manage the end-to-end Australian payroll including time & attendance, and lead process and system change across SAP and connected platforms, to ensure the delivery of accurate, compliant and on time pay.

This role is Brisbane based, leads a team of five, partners closely with HR/site operations, and reports to the
Senior Manager – Global Payroll Process & Systems
. Some mine site travel may be required as part of the rhythm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end Australian payroll focusing on validation, governance and controls
  • Manage time and attendance, ensuring accurate leave accruals and balances are maintained.
  • Deliver compliant reporting and payments to third parties e.g. Superannuation Guarantee, STP, PAYG withholding, Coal LSL levies/reimbursements, and vendor remittances
  • Create and maintain strong cross functional relationships with HR, mine management and other corporate functions.
  • Lead payroll data analytics to provide meaningful insights and recommendations to leaders
  • Manage payroll related data reviews and audits (internal/external)
  • Lead payroll related regulatory change projects - interpreting relevant legislation, perform change impact assessments, system testing, manage comms & adoption
  • Pursue continuous improvement across policies, processes and systems; remove friction and lift quality

The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our Fortitude Valley office with working from home options. Peabody offers flexible start / finish times and a 'redistributed working week' giving employees flexibility to finish at noon on Fridays.

About You:
You are a fast thinking, technical Payroll Manager passionate about continuous improvement. Calm under pressure and driven by outcomes, you pair hands on SAP expertise with change know how to lift accuracy, speed and compliance without the noise.

  • End to end AU payroll management experience (T&A, leave, controls, reporting)
  • Strong SAP experience (strong SuccessFactors experience a plus)
  • Flexible and comfortable with change
  • Innovative thinker and rational decision-maker
  • Confident with awards/EAs, STP, PAYG, super and audits
  • Change literate to improve processes, train users, drive adoption
  • Advanced Excel skills, turn data into clear insights and actions
  • Bonus (nice to have): mining/resources exposure, Coal LSL, shared services, UKG Workforce/SuccessFactors familiarity
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
