An exciting opportunity has become available for a CSSD Instrument Technician to join our Central Sterilisation Department at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital.
As a valued member of our CSSD team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient supply of sterile instruments and equipment to our Operating Theatres, Wards, Allied Health Departments, and external agencies. Your work will directly support high-quality patient care across the hospital and the wider New England region.

About the role
As an enthusiastic member of our CSSD team, you will be essential in providing high-quality service to theatres, the Day Procedure Centre, and other clinical areas. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collection, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilisation, and delivery of all reusable medical devices (RMDs).
- Operating sterilisation and associated equipment safely to ensure the quality of reprocessed RMDs.
- Providing quality processed RMDs on time.
- Complying with AS/NZ Standard 4187 and GENCA Infection Control Guidelines.
- Following hospital and CSSD policies to maintain consistent, high-quality service.
- Working collaboratively and safely with the broader hospital team.
- Unpacking, packing, and rotating sterile stock to maintain efficiency and compliance.
About you
You are a motivated, detail-oriented professional who takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. You'll bring:
- Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (or currently working towards it).
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control requirements including AS/NZ 4187.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team.
- Understanding of waste management principles.
- A respectful, team-oriented approach to your work.
