You will work as a part of our high-performing team to deliver a fun and interactive program to the children within our beautiful, small, family-owned service. Key duties of your position would include:
Care and Education for Children
o Support your room team in developing and maintaining positive, supportive relationships with all children within the room
o Follow the services program cycle; this includes all planning documentation, child portfolios, critical reflections, and evaluation of the room and children's learning
o To be flexible in working with all age groups and areas as required by the service
o To respond to the children's needs in a positive and caring manner
o To ensure individual children and family needs and requirements are met
o To supervise and support children through routines and play-based learning and experiences
o To scaffold children's learning and development
o To be an advocate for children's rights, needs, and interests, ensuring that children's voices are respected and their emotions are supported
o Role mode appropriate behaviour, interactions, and language
o Collaborate with the room team regarding all aspects of care and daily routines, and practices
Participate with Families
o To maintain positive and effective relationships with all families and ensure that open communication is encouraged
o Welcome and support children and families when becoming familiar with service practices
o To promote and support family participation in the service, including involvement in the program, routines, and practices
o Liaise and interact with families and support networks caring for children in your care
o To be available for daily discussions with parents/guardians on their child's day
o To employ effective and professional communication with families
Team Participation
o To work with and support your room team in offering high-quality care
o To maintain a professional approach to critically reflecting and improving
o Respect every staff member and work together to provide quality care
o Deal with conflict according to the service policy
o Conduct yourself in a professional, respectful manner, collaborating with all team members
o To ensure all policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines are consistently followed
Health and Safety
o To ensure that a safe and hygienic environment is provided for all children to play and learn
o To ensure the supervision of children is in line with service policies
o To follow the services' policies and procedures when dealing with incidents, illness, and emergencies
o To maintain the cleaning of the room, indoor and outdoor environments, following the services policies, procedures, and checklists
o To complete all required documentation
Professional Skills and Development
o To maintain a professional approach to all aspects of your role
o To critically reflect and work towards improving your individual professional practices
o To continually upskill yourself and the educators within your room
Operational Management
o To consistently follow the service's policies, procedures, and philosophy
o To undertake administrative tasks as required
o To always maintain confidentiality
o To actively take part in services Assessment and Rating process
o Be available to work shifts ranging from the services opening time until closing time
