Senior Underwriter – Liability

HDI Global's Liability underwriting business are looking for an experienced Senior based in our Sydney Head office. The focus for the role is servicing HDI's blue chip corporate clients, international program business and construction liability. This is very much a market facing role and there is an expectation that you will be seeking new business in the market as well as managing a renewal portfolio with regular broker and client face-to-face meetings.

You will have a demonstrated knowledge of liability and the corporate insurance market, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven sales ability and a passion for customer service and building relationships. Key responsibilities and duties will include (but not limited to):

• Review of Liability risks and complete all necessary underwriting duties.
• Complete premium calculations for new business and renewals through the premium rating systems and guidelines.
• Issue and review of policy wordings as required.
• Identify referral triggers according to HDI Global SE, Australia Underwriting Guidelines and local branch underwriting authority and escalate as necessary with recommendations.
• Operate within the delegated underwriting license and underwriting guidelines.
• Work with HDI's Risk Engineers to improve clients risk profiles by discussing and following up risk recommendations.
• Work with the team to ensure that business goals are met.
• Develop and foster existing and new broker relationships, along with client relationships.

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years' liability underwriting experience.
• Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously.
• Demonstrated ability to time manage and prioritise.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
• Proven track record of delivering results and fostering relationships.
• High level of numeracy and computer literacy (Excel and MS Office).
