Position Details:

  • Full-time role based in Melbourne

  • Providing support across multiple client locations in Melbourne's Eastern and Northern suburbs

  • Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 + superannuation, depending on skills and experience

Skills and experience:

To be successful in this role, the applicants must have advanced skills and experience in the below:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or InfoSec / Cybersecurity

  • MUST have experience in VIC government Education sector.

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in network and systems engineering or similar technical roles.

  • Proven ability to design, configure, and manage Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, including roles such as AD DS, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and Failover Clustering.

  • Administration of virtualisation platforms (Hyper-V, VMware), storage solutions, and system backups.

  • Management of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace tenants, including identity synchronisation and security policies.

  • Configuration and administration of Cisco and Ubiquiti network equipment — switches, routers, VLANs, and firewalls (CCNA/CCNP certification highly regarded).

  • Strong knowledge of network security, VPNs, and access control protocols.

  • Familiarity with Azure, AWS, and cloud-based network monitoring or management tools.

  • Demonstrated experience providing Tier 2/3 technical support and mentoring junior technicians.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple client environments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy secure network and server infrastructures to meet client and project requirements.

  • Analyse and optimise system performance, resilience, and scalability.

  • Develop and maintain system architecture documents, network topology diagrams, and disaster recovery plans.

  • Conduct technical audits and security assessments to ensure compliance with organisational standards.

  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to scope, plan, and deliver IT projects on time and within budget.

  • Provide escalated support, diagnose and resolve complex issues related to servers, networks, and endpoints.

  • Manage updates, patching, and system monitoring to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.

  • Document configuration standards, changes, and procedures for knowledge continuity.

  • Support training and mentoring of technicians to uplift internal capability.
