Engineering Manager - Sydney or Melbourne

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead & Mentor: Support a team of skilled software engineers through coaching, career development, performance reviews and personalised growth plans.
  • Drive Delivery: Partner closely with product managers to shape technical roadmaps and ensure projects land on time.
  • Champion Agile Excellence: Oversee sprint planning, retrospectives and stand-ups, keeping the team focused, aligned and moving efficiently.
  • Plan & Resource Effectively: Balance workloads, identify skill gaps, and play an active role in hiring top-tier engineering talent.
  • Build Team Culture: Foster a collaborative, inclusive and learning-driven environment where knowledge is shared and everyone grows.
  • Collaborate at Scale: Work with fellow engineering managers to align on technical decisions, standards and resource allocation across the organisation.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • 3+ years leading and managing engineering teams.
  • Must be a hands-on leader.
  • A proven record of building high-performing, motivated tech teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern engineering practices and agile methodologies.
  • Preferably, experience working at an organisation that has been through a scale-up phase.
  • Experience managing full-stack development teams.
