To provide oversight of market, counterparty and liquidity risk exposures in ASX Clearing House

The Clearing Risk Control team is responsible for oversighting the day-to-day market, counterparty and liquidity risk exposures in ASX Clearing Houses and running default management activities. The role requires a high degree of financial risk management experience, technical expertise and a commercial and customer mind-set.

The role will work closely with Line 1 and other Risk Management teams including Clearing Risk Quantitative teams, Model Risk Management, Analytics & Frameworks, and Clearing Risk Policy and Credit Risk teams. To be successful in the role, the candidate requires a strong control mindset, technical capability to understand models and apply them in a practical setting, as well as an understanding of trading and hedging of ASX products.

Your Responsibilities

  • Undertake Clearing Risk Control activities in accordance with agreed policies, standards and procedures including (but not limited to):
  • Proactively managing clearing risk exposures arising from novated positions of clearing participants including assessing and taking actions to ensure adequacy of margins.
  • Executing the financial risk management frameworks and risk processes to ensure that clearing risks are appropriately monitored, measured, understood, explained and escalated.
  • Developing a deep understanding of clearing participants' positions and exposures (including default management strategies) and ensure adequate financial resources are held.
  • Providing analysis and presenting results to governance forums to support key model assumptions.
  • Providing input and support on special projects and ad hoc tasks relating to the development of Clearing Risk Management systems and processes including completing UAT as required.

Your Experience And Qualifications
Must have

  • At least 5 years' domestic or international experience in a clearing house, trading desk or traded market risk in an investment or commercial bank.
  • Have a firm grasp of clearing risk management concepts including pricing, exposure to market risk and have a strong track record of contributing to project delivery as a SME.
  • Financial risk management and global markets experience across a range of asset classes.
  • An in depth understanding of market risk metrics such as VaR, SVaR, Greeks, stress testing, sensitivities and PnL analysis.
  • Have tertiary qualifications in a numerical discipline. Exclude universally required soft skills (ie attention to detail, good communication skills) and nice-to-have/desirable/not-mandatory skills and experience

Nice To Have

  • Experience of writing UAT test cases and performing UAT for system changes and product launches.
  • Trading or hedging experience using listed products to reduce market risk exposure.
  • Knowledge of ASX products, with previous s experience in interest rates and equity markets.
  • A sound understanding of statistical concepts and have the ability to understand model documentation and understand the risk management implications of models.
