Primary objective
To provide high-quality, safe, effective, and efficient services in hospital and primary health care settings under the direct
supervision of the Director of Medical Services (DMS).
Context statement
This position is based in the Big Rivers Region, Northern Territory. The position will provide medical administration training
and experience across the Big Rivers Region.
Key duties and responsibilities
Working closely with and reporting to the DMS you will be responsible for supporting the provision of high-quality health
care services by providing leadership for a portfolio of responsibilities that may include medical workforce recruitment,
retention, industrial relations, medicolegal matters as appropriate, and supporting the process of performance review and
development of staff under supervision. In addition, you will work closely with the Safety and Quality manager to monitor
and promote quality, safety, and performance standards. The role provides excellent opportunities to lead RMO rostering,
pastoral care, engagement and accreditation of training positions.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Australian citizen or permanent residency in Australia with general registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA.
2. Acceptance into (or eligibility for) the RACMA Fellowship Training Program
3. Demonstrated commitment to medical leadership with an ability to evaluate clinical problems and develop appropriate
management plans.
4. Demonstrate an aptitude and commitment to acquiring skills in medical administration, management and leadership.
5. Have effective communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for a trainee, an ability to effectively facilitate
relationships with other staff, patients and their families, and hospital management and to have a high standard of
professional behaviour.
- Demonstrate an ability to effectively organise and manage time and resources and demonstrate punctuality and reliability,
including demonstrate appropriate self-care, ability to cope with stress, and willingness to consider feedback.
- Have a commitment to ongoing education and understanding of audit/research processes.
Desirable
1. Demonstrable commitment to rural and remote medicine
- Experience in rural medicine (NT experience highly regarded), and/or in Indigenous health.
