About the M1 South - Blackhill to Tomago project:

A joint venture between John Holland and Gamuda Australia has been selected by Transport for NSW to deliver the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace Southern Package - a key missing link in one of the country's busiest transport corridors.

The $1.029 billion southern package will deliver a 10-kilometre dual carriageway motorway extension between Black Hill and Tomago. There will be 8 bridges that include a 2.6km viaduct and new congestion-busting interchanges at Black Hill, Tarro and Tomago.

About the role:

The M1 to Raymond Terrace Project team are currently looking for an experienced Senior People Advisor to join the team, based in Tarro, NSW. Approximately 30 minutes from Newcastle CBD.

Key responsibilities include leading employee relations (ER) processes and supporting the development and rollout of demobilisation activities across the project. You'll be a trusted advisor, helping leaders navigate complex HR matters, interpret and apply enterprise agreements, and foster a high-performance culture.

We're looking for a driven individual with exceptional communication skills who can become a trusted partner to our people and the project. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong People Advisor ready to take the next step in their career and make a meaningful impact on a dynamic project. We would also be open to considering a 4 day work week for a more experienced professional.

Responsibilities of the role include:
  • Provide expert support and advice to leaders and employees on all workplace relations matters
  • Recommend and support the implementation of HR strategies in collaboration with the People Manager
  • Lead and develop the HR Coordinator, building team capability and effectiveness
  • Oversee the full range of people management activities including recruitment, remuneration, employee relations, and offboarding / demobilisation
  • Recommend strategies to enhance employee performance and contribute to successful project outcomes
  • Provide accurate data, insights, and reporting on HR activities to support continuous improvement
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
  • A degree in Business, Human Resource Management, Law, Finance or other associated disciplines and / or 3-5 years' experience in a human resources advisory role
  • Strong knowledge of national and state regulatory frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in managing employee relations and performance matters
  • Experience managing a direct report (desired)
What's in it for you when you join the John Holland Gamuda Joint Venture:

We're about connecting your sense of purpose to ours. We understand that your career is one of the biggest ways to have an impact on the world. We also believe in supporting you as a whole person, not just an employee.
