About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated Finance Officer ready to take ownership of our finance function and play an instrumental role in expansion and continued business success. This hands-on position offers a career pathway into a Finance Controller role and exposure to both daily finance operations and broader strategic initiatives. At a high level, you will be accountable for:

• Maintaining financial integrity and accuracy by leading financial systems and controls (plus optimising process and systems).
• Delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing and reporting to meet statutory obligations and support workforce satisfaction.
• Engaging proactively with external accountants and key stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.
• Supporting operations to run smoothly while offering valuable insights to support informed business decision-making.

About your Day:

Your day-to-day will be varied with tasks in the areas of data management, finance transactions, compliance and process improvement, while also supporting management reporting and the transition to more automated and scalable finance systems. You are accountable for the following responsibilities:

• Oversee the full cycle of supplier payments and client invoicing to ensure timely and accurate transactions while building strong relationships and healthy cash flow.
• Maintain accuracy in billing, promptly issue invoices, and actively follow up on overdue accounts to mitigate bad debt risk.
• Calculate and process sales and contractor commissions in line with agreed frameworks, promoting high performance.
• Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet items, accruals, and prepayments to uphold financial integrity.
• Undertake month-end close activities and management reporting, and timely period-end reporting (BAS, IAS, EOM, EOFY).
• Identify and implement automation and workflow enhancements across payroll, AP/AR.
• Maintain up-to-date records for all assets, systems and vehicles, liaising with external providers and suppliers as needed.

About You:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or progressing towards CA/CPA preferred).
• Demonstrated experience in finance or accounting positions, covering payroll, AP/AR, and reconciliations (ideally 2+ years).
• Highly proficient in Xero, Excel, and AP automation tools, with adaptability across both manual and evolving system environments.
• Meticulous and proactive finance professional with a strong commitment to accuracy, financial integrity, and the ability to independently manage daily processes.
• Demonstrates a keen eye for detail and a passion for ongoing improvement, consistently seeking better outcomes.
• Capable of managing competing tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
• Great leadership traits with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with external accountants/auditors is desirable.
