Deckhand

Trawl operations with a four-vessel fleet.

1-2 years' experience is required, tasks essential to the position include:

- Perform watchkeeping duties

- Knots and rope handling skills

- Knife skills – G/H&G processing of fish

- Safe handling of fish and by-catch, identification and sorting of species

- General repair and maintenance of fishing equipment (such as net mending)

- Boat handling and docking skills (manage mooring equipment during berthing/unberthing procedures)

Desirable skills/qualifications:

- mechanical ability (winch handling).

- A General Purpose Hand (near coastal) or equivalent would be preferred.

Main Port of operation is Lakes Entrance, accommodation can be provided.

Trips range from 1 – 3 days, vessels are alcohol and drug free.

Successful candidates will be paid a salary or percentage of catch rate as per industry standards which will be negotiated according to qualifications, skills, experience and performance in the same or similar occupation.
