About the Opportunity

Senior Occupational Therapist (Level 3) Mental Health Intensive Rehabilitation

This Senior Occupational Therapy position is part of the multidisciplinary team providing intensive rehabilitation to mental health consumers. You will have the opportunity to engage with complex mental health consumers over an extended period of time, supporting them to develop skills to enable successful community living post discharge. This unit is part of the Statewide Intensive Rehabilitation Network. The ideal candidate will have strong evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and intervention skills and experience. This position works across a 7-day rotating roster which can include weekends and public holidays.

What You'll be Doing

The senior occupational therapist provides clinical governance, leadership and expertise within occupational therapy services including the provision of safe, timely, compassionate and high quality person-centered care.

Where You'll Be Working

SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide comprehensive care across several facilities, including the newly redeveloped Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. These services offer a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals with acute and non-acute mental health needs.

The multidisciplinary teams, consisting of professionals with diverse mental health expertise, deliver exceptional care through specialised units such as the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Adult Acute Unit, and Older People's Mental Health Unit. The service is committed to patient safety and high-quality care, maintaining external accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.

  • Current registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board and AHPRA, with at least 3 years post graduate clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services in Mental Health
  • Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and/or students.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
