About the RoleAs a Chain-Link Fencer at Gate Opening Systems, you will be responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining chain-link fences and fabricating chain-link gate panels. You'll work both in the factory (fabrication) and on-site (installation/repairs), supporting our automatic gate installation teams where required.
Key Responsibilities
Fence Installation & Repair
- Set out fence lines and prepare sites.
- Excavate holes, install posts, and secure with concrete footings.
- Install rails, bracing, and other structural supports.
- Attach, tension, and finish chain-link mesh (including ties, trims, and neat terminations).
Fabrication & Assembly
- Fabricate simple tubular steel frames for gates in the factory.
- Fit chain-link mesh panels to frames and prepare for site installation.
- Use hand tools, grinders, and small welding equipment where required.
Support & General Duties
- Assist the team on other fence/gate installation tasks when required.
- Load/unload materials, transport equipment, and keep sites tidy.
- Follow safe work practices and site compliance requirements.
Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience with chain-link fencing (commercial or residential).
- Knowledge of mesh tensioning, layout speed, and neat tie-off methods.
- White Card (Construction Induction) – required before commencing site work.
- Physically fit for manual handling and outdoor work.
- Ability to use power tools (grinders, drivers, post-hole augers) safely.
