About the Role

BMD is proud to be delivering one of Tasmania's most significant infrastructure projects – the Spirit of Tasmania Devonport Terminal 3 for TT-Line. This landmark development will deliver world-class port facilities to support Tasmania's future growth, and we're seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer (Utilities) to join our team.

  • Full-time permanent position, FIFO from East Coast location - 10days on, 4days off roster.
  • Base + super + uplift + LAFHA + flights + accommodation + vehicle + phone + laptop

As Senior Project Engineer - Utilities, you will lead the delivery of critical utility packages to ensure the new port terminal is fully functional and operational. This includes:

  • High Voltage (HV) power – incoming HV works, substations, coordination with TasPorts and subcontractors, and overseeing lock-out/tag-out safety and commissioning
  • Fire services – fire reticulation, liaison with the Chief Fire Warden, and compliance with building permits
  • Essential services – sewer, internal communications, CCTV, weighbridge, and systems that operate the ship ramp
  • Stakeholder engagement – close coordination with TT-Line, building surveyors, TasPorts, authorities and multiple stakeholders to manage design, approvals and commissioning

This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring strong technical understanding, commissioning experience, and excellent stakeholder management to deliver critical utilities safely, on time and to specification.

About You

You are a driven and solutions-focused engineer with demonstrated experience in delivering utilities packages on large-scale civil or infrastructure projects. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel in building relationships with clients, stakeholders and subcontractors.

You will bring:

  • Degree qualifications in Engineering
  • Proven experience in utilities delivery on major infrastructure projects (power, water, sewer, stormwater, comms)
  • Strong knowledge of HV works, commissioning processes, and lock-out/tag-out safety
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and statutory authorities
  • A collaborative approach to working within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Commitment to safety, quality and innovation
