Head of Finance

Connect2Group is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people with disability through personalised, client-focused services. We are seeking a permanent, full-time Head of Finance to join our Corporate Services Division, based at our Cleveland Head Office. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this key leadership role will oversee all financial operations, ensuring Connect2Group meets its strategic and operational finance goals efficiently and on time.

About the Role

As the Head of Finance, you will play a critical role in leading Connect2Group's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of all key finance functions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Accounting & Compliance – Oversee all financial reporting across Connect2Group, including monthly stakeholder and board reports, forecasting, reconciliations, and ensuring all compliance obligations are met (GST, audits, etc.).
  • Cash Controls – Manage cash flow monitoring, reconciliations, exception reporting, and distributions to maintain strong financial governance.
  • Job Costing Management – Monitor work in progress, oversee reconciliations, review final job costing and depreciation, manage asset capitalisation, and finalise all required documentation.
  • Reporting – Deliver accurate monthly financial packs, and prepare half-yearly and annual statutory financial reports within required timeframes.
  • Audit – Work closely with external auditors to ensure smooth and timely completion of the annual audit process.
  • Team Leadership – Manage and support the Finance Manager and NDIS Funding Specialist, providing guidance and direction.
  • Payroll Oversight – Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.

About You

You are a confident financial leader with strong technical skills and a collaborative approach. You will bring:

  • CA/CPA qualification with 4+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector (highly regarded but not essential).
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Strong background in statutory reporting, tax compliance, and annual audit processes.
  • Exceptional prioritisation, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and conceptual thinking, and sound judgement in problem-solving.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
