The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

Reporting to the Senior Accreditation Officer, the Accreditation Officer works as a member of the Program Accreditation team to implement the work plan and support delivery of accreditation functions for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice, Chinese Medicine, Medical Radiation Practice, Paramedicine, and Podiatry professions.

The role involves case management of accreditation assessment applications, monitoring responses submitted by education providers, and providing advice, guidance, and support while ensuring stakeholder engagement with education providers, Accreditation Committees and the Program Accreditation team.

This is a full time, 12 month position with a location preference in our Ahpra Melbourne office.

In this role you will:

  • Work with the Program Accreditation team to follow work plans and manage your workload, providing timely advice and support to assessment teams, including during site visits.
  • Manage accreditation applications and documents from education providers, ensuring compliance with laws, standards, policies, and risk guidelines.
  • Handle enquiries from education providers and use judgement to escalate more complex issues that go beyond established guidelines to the Senior Accreditation Officer.
  • Prepare reports and agenda papers that align with policies and risk guidelines and present them at meetings when needed.

As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Skilled at interpreting and applying standards, procedures, and policies, preferably in a regulation or education background.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with experience in writing reports, agenda papers, and presenting information to committees.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual skills, with the ability to use technology effectively to find information.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and resolve issues within established guidelines, escalating when necessary.
  • Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines while delivering quality work as part of a team.
