Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking a HVAC Technician – Rotating Shifts to support mechanical and refrigeration services within a large, highly regarded public healthcare precinct on the Gold Coast. Reporting to site leadership, you will work closely with technical teams and site partners to ensure building systems are safe, compliant, and operating smoothly around the clock.
This role is ideal for someone who values teamwork, brings a thoughtful and steady approach to technical work, and enjoys contributing to an environment that supports community wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems including chillers, package units, split systems, ventilation, and filtration
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently and safely
- Inspect, maintain, and support chilled water systems and BMS
- Complete works in line with contract requirements, KPIs, and safety standards
- Maintain accurate service records and reporting documentation
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, subcontractors, and site stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement and safe work practices across the site
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Trade qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration
- Current ARCTick Refrigerant Handling Licence
- Restricted Electrical Licence
- White Card and current Driver's Licence (manual capability)
- Experience working with HVAC plant and building services systems
- Clear communication style and a collaborative, respectful approach
Desirable:
- Experience within healthcare, critical infrastructure, or 24/7 operational sites
- Familiarity with BMS and structured maintenance environments
- Interest in ongoing learning and site-specific technical development
Shift Structure & Working Arrangements
- 12-hour rotating shifts:
- 6:00am – 6:00pm
- 6:00pm – 6:00am
- Full-time, permanent, on-site role
- Flexibility to work day and night rotations is essential
