Experienced Speech Pathologist
Are you an experienced speech pathologist who wants to make a real difference — without compromising flexibility or work–life balance?
Do you care about improving access to quality therapy for people in rural and remote Australia?
About Us
Umbo is a purpose-driven social enterprise tackling one of Australia's biggest challenges — the lack of access to speech and occupational therapy services across the country.
We believe that no one should wait 18 months to access essential health care, no matter where they live. That's why we provide therapy online, connecting families and individuals with skilled clinicians who deliver life-changing support.
As a social enterprise, we reinvest 50% of our profits back into our mission to reach more vulnerable and underserved communities.
About the Role
We're looking for experienced generalist speech pathologists to join our growing team.
You'll provide online assessment and intervention for a diverse caseload — supporting children, adolescents, and adults across a range of communication and swallowing needs.
This is a great opportunity for an independent, confident clinician who wants variety, flexibility, and purpose in their work
- Deliver therapy online to clients across Australia, preferably from toddlers to adults.
- Work from 15 hours per week upwards, with flexible scheduling.
- Receive pay for direct, indirect, and internal time — your expertise is valued.
- Enjoy full admin support: bookings and invoicing handled for you.
- Participate in regular professional and clinical supervision (1:1 and group).
- Use company-provided logins for all platforms and tech systems.
You're an experienced clinician who brings a blend of strong clinical reasoning, compassion, and adaptability. You enjoy working with a variety of clients and thrive in a flexible, collaborative online environment.
We're looking for:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech Pathology
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a practising speech pathologist (generalist caseload ideal)
- Experience with NDIS participants across a range of ages and complex presentations
- Confidence across receptive and expressive language, social communication, speech, and swallowing
- Experience supporting clients with ASD and other neurodiverse profiles using a neuro-affirming approach
- Current AHPRA registration, Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and National Police Clearance
- Fully remote role – work from anywhere in Australia (or overseas)
- Meaningful impact – support rural and regional clients who otherwise miss out
Competitive hourly rates (plus super):
Band 1 Early career | $55–$61
- Band 2 Mid career | $65–$75
Band 3 Advanced/Senior | $80–$88
(Equivalent to $107,250 – $171,600 FTE per annum)
- Paid professional and clinical supervision
- Supportive and values-driven team culture
- Purpose-led work — 50% of profits go back into reaching more vulnerable communities
