About the Role

As the Clinical Trial Assistant within the Hepatology Clinical Trial Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination and day-to-day running of clinical trials. Your responsibilities will span a wide range of administrative and operational tasks, including maintaining Investigator Site Files, updating the Clinical Trials database and supporting the documentation and coordination required for ethical and regulatory compliance. Your work will help ensure that trial activities are well-organised, efficient and compliant with clinical research protocols.

In this collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will assist Clinical Trial Coordinators by preparing for patient visits, coordinating sample collections and entering data into case report forms. Your attention to detail, strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities will directly contribute to the success of clinical trials aimed at improving outcomes for patients with liver-related conditions. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in clinical research and be part of a committed team advancing medical knowledge in hepatology.

About You

You are an organised, reliable and proactive administrator who thrives in a clinical research environment. With strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities, you bring the professionalism and initiative needed to support the smooth and compliant operation of clinical trials. You enjoy working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality administrative support.

  • Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills – Ability to work independently or within a team under general direction; strong problem-solving capability; ability to meet deadlines under pressure; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement, policy development, system updates and data accuracy across clinical trial processes.
  • Experience – Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint); strong computer literacy; experience delivering a wide range of administrative duties; confident communication with staff at all levels; and demonstrated experience in data management and using computerised information systems.
  • Knowledge – Understanding of health service structures, policies and procedures; knowledge of medical terminology; familiarity with Good Clinical Practice principles; knowledge of quality improvement frameworks; and strong understanding of computer-based information systems.
  • Educational/Vocational Qualifications – Refer to the relevant Role Description for qualification requirements (if applicable).
