ADAS Engineer
We are inviting Expressions of Interest from skilled ADAS Engineers to support a high-profile Driver Assistance Technology program focused on trailer reversing and Pro Trailer Backup Assist (PTBA). This work will play a crucial role in collecting and analysing real-world vehicle and trailer data to support the development of advanced AI-driven driver assistance systems.
About the ProjectThe project involves collecting and annotating video data from rear-view cameras during trailer manoeuvres, with the goal of training a neural network that enhances the Pro Trailer Backup Assist (PTBA) feature. This technology simplifies trailer reversing by allowing the driver to steer the trailer with a dedicated control, while the system manages vehicle steering.
The service will involve hands-on testing, vehicle instrumentation, troubleshooting, and data reporting, with findings integrated into global engineering teams.
Scope of Work- Lead data collection across multiple trailers, bullbars, and surfaces.
- Set up and operate vehicle instrumentation and logging systems.
- Perform vehicle testing at proving grounds and external sites (e.g., boat ramps, deep-water scenarios).
- Collect data in varied environments and weather conditions, including night drives.
- Ensure all diagnostic issues are identified and resolved.
- Provide structured feedback, test reports, and program status updates.
- Support annotation and validation work for AI/Neural Network model training.
- Geelong area (primary site).
- Phillip Island – including trailer reversing on boat ramps and deep-water conditions.
- Potential additional external test sites across Victoria to broaden test scenarios.
- Degree in Automotive, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification).
- Strong experience in ADAS feature development, validation, or testing.
- Proven diagnostics/CAN-based experience and knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
- Hands-on trailer towing and reversing experience (must have).
- Knowledge of data logger systems – set-up, usage, troubleshooting, and fault finding.
- Independent, proactive problem solver with strong collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with local and international teams.
- Valid Australian (or equivalent international) driver's licence with strong driving record.
- Tier 2 driver certification with towing (or equivalent trailer towing credentials) preferred.
If this sounds like the right fit for you, please submit your CV. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted as the project scope is finalised.
