Power System Engineer

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Embedded Expertise Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

Reporting to the Senior Network Planning Manager you will be responsible to deliver strategic and technical planning outcomes, including:

  • Assessing network capabilities and identifying emerging limitations.
  • Planning network augmentation for bushfire safety using REFCL technology.
  • Leading fault level forecasts, Distribution Loss Factors, and HV/LV development plans.
  • Managing non-network solutions to reduce demand and defer investment.
  • Engaging stakeholders and applying regulatory and commercial insights to deliver optimal solutions.

Skills/Experience

  • Engineering qualifications and experience in electricity network planning.
  • Familiarity with asset management, energy markets, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proficiency in network analysis tools (e.g., Sincal, PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSCAD); Python skills a plus.
  • Strong project management across multiple initiatives.
  • Knowledge of protection systems and experience with special protection schemes is highly valued.
