The Brisbane Produce Market is Queensland's only central fruit and vegetable market, and the state's most important centre for the wholesale marketing and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables.  It records an annual trade in excess of 700 million kilograms of produce valued at more than $2 billion.

The busy Spring/Summer season is commencing at the Brisbane Markets, with the smell of fresh Mangos and the wait in anticipation for Stone Fruit and Cherries. As a representative of employers within the market, Brismark is searching for Forklift Drivers/Storepersons available for night/early morning shifts who would enjoy the excitement of the bustling fresh produce market and long-term employment with established and well-respected produce wholesalers.

Daily tasks include:

  • Receival and storage of stock sent direct from growers or other wholesalers i.e. unloading of trucks, stock movement
  • Consolidation of orders, delivery to buyers and/or other businesses in the markets and loading of orders onto trucks
  • Use of Pallet Jacks/Forklifts and other manual handling aids
  • General warehouse duties and housekeeping.

A successful candidate needs:

  • Knowledge of the Fruit and Vegetable industry preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Current forklift licence and demonstrated forklift driving experience in previous roles, preferred but not required for all roles.
  • Minimum 2-3 years warehouse/storeperson or labouring experience
  • Available for night/early morning shift and weekend work on a roster basis
  • 'Hands on' labouring experience, physically fit for a busy and varied work environment
  • Attention to detail, time management and high-level safety awareness and commitment
  • Reliable with own transport
