Townsville Steel and Wire is a local family owned steel and fencing material business close to the city of Townsville.

About the role

An appropriate candidate would be reliable and able to work efficiently and independently to unload trucks, complete goods inwards procedures, pick orders for customers and complete other duties such as deliveries. Machinery work involving the bending, cutting and punching of steel for orders is also required. This role is a full time, permanent position with hours of work from 7:15 to 4:30 week days.

The Storeperson role is varied and interesting. A day of work is rarely the same as the next, and there is the opportunity to operate a number of machines to produce satisfying results.

Our team is focused on customer service, creating a positive and friendly working environment. Lunch is provided one day each week.

There is the potential for this role to move partially or fully into sales or into fabrication depending on interest, needs, and capability.

Skills and experience

The Storeperson must be able to interpret the orders and picking slips generated and make informed decisions of how to proceed.

As there is fabrication offered to customers, the Storeperson must be capable of using a variety of machines such as a drill press, punch and shear, and band saws.

At times, the Storeperson will be required to complete deliveries and collect stock items.

Forklift and car licenses are essential. Knowledge of steel and fencing products would be beneficial but is not necessary.
