Lane Cove West, New South Wales, Australia Infocus Design Pty Ltd Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Infocus Design has been dedicated to excellence in design and manufacturing for over 30 years. We are a strong, focused, professional team that makes amazing things happen for our clients. We design and manufacture award-winning retail fit-outs, commercial interiors, product displays, corporate events, and exhibitions around Australia and internationally. We are currently seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual to join our highly skilled design team as a PYTHA Programmer.

About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Designer – PYTHA Programmer who can turn concepts into clear construction drawings and production ready CNC files. If you're fluent in PYTHA and love seeing your work built in the workshop, we'd love to hear from you.

Reporting to the Managing Director and Design Manager, you'll own projects from design approval through to manufacture—producing accurate drawings, CNC toolpaths and documentation, coordinating with our internal teams, and liaising with clients and suppliers. You'll balance quality, time, and cost to deliver safe, buildable, and commercially sound outcomes.

What you'll do
  • Produce precise PYTHA (3D-CAD) models, construction drawings and CNC files for manufacture.
  • Resolve construction methods for safe, efficient assembly; detail joinery and hardware.
  • Gather site measurements and documentation and obtain required approvals.
  • Manage schedules, budgets, and material selections; source quotes where needed.
  • Collaborate with designers, account managers, production, and workshop teams.
  • Support production and assist on site when required (including after hours/weekends to meet deadlines).
  • Maintain organised project files, approvals, and correspondence; uphold WHS duties and flag hazards.
What you'll bring
  • A completed cabinet making / shopfitting qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • A Bachelor's degree in architectural drafting or a related field.
  • Expert PYTHA capability with a track record of accurate, buildable documentation & CNC outputs.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Pytha Draftsperson with strong understanding of architectural drafting principles.
  • Strong construction knowledge and cabinet-making/joinery experience.
  • Sharp attention to detail, quality mindset, and ownership from brief to handover.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, able to brief cabinet makers and non-design stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness: design efficiently, manage time profitably, and specify cost-effective solutions.
  • Proven planning and multitasking skills; calm, positive, solutions-focused under pressure.
  • Team player who shares insights, supports others, and follows through.
  • Software: SketchUp Pro, CAD, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Microsoft Office; PC-proficient.
  • Ability to produce 2D drawings, 3D renderings, and/or models that communicate intent clearly.
  • Working knowledge of materials and finishes.
  • Australian work rights are required for this position.
