Join our team of dedicated professionals, and together, let's redefine the possibilities of event management, and leave a dent in the event tech industry.
Ready to build the future of events with AI?
We're on the hunt for a hands-on Tech Lead – AI who's equal parts builder, mentor, and strategist. If you love coding but also get a kick out of growing a team, shaping architecture, and turning big AI ideas into real-world impact, this could be your next adventure.
You'll report directly to our CTO and lead a cross-functional crew of engineers, product thinkers, and innovators – all focused on transforming how event planners and attendees experience the world.
What you'll Do
- Deliver value, fast: Use Lean Startup loops (build–measure–learn) to get AI features into customers' hands quickly.
- Get your hands dirty: Spend :70% of your time coding – designing and building services, UIs, and integrations (including modernising some gnarly legacy bits).
- Engineer AI that matters: Build pragmatic RAG pipelines, manage prompts/templates/versions, run evaluations, fine-tune where it counts, and track AI behaviour with the right observability.
- Shape the architecture: Partner with our Lead AI Engineer to design secure, scalable systems. Set coding standards, review PRs, and keep quality high.
- Lead with impact: Hire, onboard, and mentor developers while guiding the wider cross-functional team.
- Own the rituals: From backlog triage to release readiness, you'll run the ceremonies that keep engineering focused and efficient.
- Collaborate like a pro: Work hand-in-hand with Product on scope, priorities, and success metrics.
What you'll Bring
- Proven leadership chops – line management, hiring, mentoring, the works.
- Deep experience in Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, and automated testing.
- Strong full-stack skills: C#/.NET, React, TypeScript, Azure SQL – and you're not afraid of legacy codebases.
- Practical AI build experience: RAG, retrieval/indexing, evaluation, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning.
- An architect's mindset for designing resilient, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.
- A product mindset: you think in hypotheses and measurable outcomes, not just code.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, Cognitive Search, and vector stores.
- GraphQL experience, API integrations, and Domain-Driven Design.
This position is based in our Brisbane office with a split of office work and work from home.
What Will you Benefit from if you Become an Airstar?
- Fantastic flexibility. We offer hybrid working to all employees regardless of role or level Need to do the school drop off or pick- no problem, want to attend that school dance show where your kid's starring center stage- no worries.
- We don't like burn out. We offer 3 extra days of annual leave to encourage downtime over the Christmas period and help bridge the gap between the public holidays: to spend time with family and friends.
- We love socials Socials at EventsAir are the bomb We host quarterly catered socials for all to enjoy on our covered, outdoor back deck, or vouchers for those remote working.
- Be a champion. We love to champion and promote causes close to our heart. Think: International Women's Day, R U OKAY? And many more awesome causes. Grow through mobility Apply for side steps, up steps and secondments through different teams when role needs arise internally
- Be Healthy Grab an apple from the kitchen, take a walk around the block or grab a stand-up desk for the day, even get the flu shot on the house if you want
- Learn and develop. Use your personal AUD1000 L&D budget towards a course, a conference or something to upskill yourself in your current role.
- Work from almost anywhere. Want a few extra days in that bustling city where you're on vacation? Or want to head overseas and be around your family for longer? Use the Work from almost anywhere policy to work from anywhere for 2 weeks a year
- Enjoy parenting Use the extra maternity and paternity leave we offer on top of your statutory allowances to spend important time with your new family. Equally, if something unfortunate occurs use our miscarriage & still birth leave policy to assist in the transitional period you are both going through.
- Struggling? Reach out to our Employee Assistance Program offered to all employees and lock in a counselling session with an expert for solid advice.
- Recognize and be rewarded. Take part in our recognition program where you can earn points and vouchers for valuable work in your role across the business.
Help us write the next chapter in AI-powered SaaS- you'll be shaping how AI redefines experiences for thousands of users worldwide. We move fast, we build smart, and we have fun doing it. If that sounds like your vibe, let's talk.
