Laboratory Technician

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Laboratory Technician to join us at our Pakenham Campus.

The primary responsibility of the Laboratory Technician is the coordination of laboratory rooms and assets to ensure the efficient operation of science laboratories that complement a safe and vibrant teaching and learning environment.

The role

• This is a fulltime, ongoing position
• Commencing 22 January 2026
• This position is at our Pakenham Campus
• This position requires a current employee WWCC and police check
• This position is term time only and you are not required to work during our 13 weeks school holidays
• The salary range for this position is $66,677 to $75,167 based on experience
• The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications in Science/Applied Science
• Education based experience an advantage

Key tasks

• Prepare, distribute, and set up samples, demonstrations, class equipment sets, and scientific materials for practical teaching
• Work independently in a science laboratory, recognising, anticipating, and safely managing chemical hazards
• Use RiskAssess software to maintain safety data sheets and for booking practicals
• Liaise with Science teaching staff on their needs for practical work
• Coordinate labelling, storage, and stocktaking of chemicals, equipment, and consumables
• Care for flora and fauna within the Science department in accordance with current handling and prevention of cruelty regulations
• Obtain, maintain, breed, and collect living specimens and organisms as required in accordance with regulations
