Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Align Talent Pty Ltd Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Our Client

Our client is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting children, families, and communities, with operations spanning multiple states and territories.

For over 20 years, they've delivered high-quality care and family services that create lasting, positive change in people's lives. Today, they continue to grow and evolve, strengthening their impact through a values-driven approach and a workforce that truly reflects the diversity of the communities they serve.

The People & Culture function is highly respected across the organisation and plays a pivotal role in enabling its mission. With the business investing heavily in systems, leadership, and critical people roles, now is the perfect time to step into a newly created leadership position where you'll have a fresh slate to make your mark.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, the People & Culture Manager will lead a talented team of People Business Partners and a Learning & Development Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to guide a high-performing, motivated HR team that already has strong credibility across the business.

Your mandate will be both strategic and hands-on: building on a solid foundation of respect and influence while shaping the future direction of people and learning strategies. You'll have the opportunity to design initiatives from the ground up, backed by senior leaders who value and invest in their people. This role will work alongside a Director known for his supportive leadership style, commitment to developing staff, and reputation as a trusted mentor.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership across HR and Learning functions nationally.
  • Partnering with senior leaders to deliver contemporary, compliant, and tailored workforce solutions.
  • Overseeing the design and delivery of learning strategies, programs, and capability frameworks.
  • Leading strategic people projects such as workforce planning, talent management, flexible work practices, and organisational development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and delivering organisation-wide learning and development strategies.
  • Guiding and mentoring a high-performing team of People Business Partners and Learning professionals.
  • Acting as a key escalation point for complex HR and employee relations matters.
  • Driving the use of workforce analytics to inform decision-making and enhance organisational performance.
  • Championing the organisation's values and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.

Why Should You Apply?

  • A Fresh Slate – This is a newly created role, giving you the opportunity to shape and define its scope and make a lasting impact.
  • High-Performing Team – Lead a capable, respected group of HR professionals who are already delivering great results.
  • Respected Function – Join an HR team recognised as a trusted partner and valued contributor across the organisation.
  • Strategic Investment – Step into a business investing heavily in people, systems, and future-ready workforce practices.
  • National Influence – Work closely with executives and leaders across multiple states and territories.
  • Balance & Flexibility – Based in Melbourne with a hybrid model (3 days in office, 2 from home).
  • Purpose & Impact – Contribute your leadership to a not-for-profit organisation that improves lives every day.

The Successful Candidate

You'll bring proven leadership experience in HR and Learning & Development, with the ability to balance strategic vision and operational delivery. You're confident working with senior leaders on complex workforce matters, and equally comfortable mentoring and empowering your team.

Key skills and experience include:

  • Strong background in HR leadership and end-to-end people management.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and delivering organisation-wide learning and development strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation, awards, and contemporary workforce practices.
  • Experience leading strategic projects in areas such as capability frameworks, workforce planning, talent management, and organisational development.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, coaching, and influencing skills at executive and senior management level.
  • Ability to use workforce data and analytics to inform evidence-based decision making.
  • A values-driven leadership style, committed to building inclusive, high-performing teams.

If you're ready to take on a leadership role with a clear mandate, a great team behind you, and the chance to shape the future of HR and learning in a values-driven organisation, this is an opportunity you won't want to miss.
