Job Description

About the Role

In this role, you will play a vital role in providing a range of counselling and support services with a primary focus on individual counselling. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in facilitation and community education sessions aimed at supporting people who have experienced domestic and family violence. This position encompasses a wide range of tasks, including reporting and administration, client services, stakeholder engagement, strategic management, and effective communication.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual counselling sessions to address their emotional, social, and mental well-being.
  • Develop and implement effective counselling strategies and interventions tailored to the unique needs of individuals.
  • Provide guidance and support to families, offering facilitation and community education sessions to foster a collaborative and nurturing environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counselling sessions and client progress, ensuring confidentiality and privacy are upheld.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, and external agencies, to promote a holistic approach to support the well-being of people.
  • Engage in strategic planning and management, ensuring the effective implementation of counselling programs and services.

Essential Criteria

  • NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Clearance
  • A tertiary qualification in social, behavioural or educational sciences e.g. counselling, social work, psychology Eligible for membership with a professional body, such as PACFA (Provisional or Clinical) or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in relationship and family counselling.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a trauma-informed manner with people who have experienced complex trauma & domestic violence.
  • Good problem solving and negotiation skills. Knowledge of:
  • the theory, practice and values of relationship counselling and/or family therapy
  • child development and family process
  • family law, family violence, child protection, suicide issues relevant community services.
