Agile Mining Services is a privately owned company, based in Adelaide, providing specialist technical, mining, and mineral processing services to the South Australian iron ore industry. Our operations located near Coober Pedy currently mine and export 3Mtpa+ high grade Iron ore.

About the opportunity:

Agile Mining is seeking a passionate, outstanding Project HSET Advisor based at our Adelaide office to provide advice, practical expertise, and solutions to site-based employees and contractors on all safety matters. This exciting role and will be an important member of the Safety and Compliance Team and reports to Safety and Compliance Manager.

This role requires a collaborative style, working closely with our people, project leaders & clients to uphold standards and expectations across multiple work fronts. The successful candidate will be proactive in mentoring the workforce and leaders, leading incident and event investigations, and seeking continuous improvement solutions.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Attend site on a regular basis to ensure the AMS Services Safety Program is effectively implemented and mentor site Safety and Compliance team in the successful implementation of the HSE program.
  • Mentor and assist in incident investigation processes including assisting in investigations of serious incidents.
  • Ensuring compliance requirements are being met to ensure AS/NZ ISO Certification
  • Ensure project specific WHSEQ Management Plans are reviewed as required by project teams.
  • Collate documentation in accordance with project requirements & check quality of document submissions and ensure they are compliant with processes, client requirements, revision conventions and formatting.
  • Record, check and track all incoming and outgoing documentation to Ensure project teams have access to latest versions.
  • Ensure effective document control and records management for the business to meet business needs including those required under ISO accreditation and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the site and corporate risk registers
  • Conduct and facilitate site risk assessments and regularly review the project risk assessment to ensure it remains current and effective.
  • Assist project teams prepare for external audits.
  • Oversee Environmental compliance including EMP and PEPR compliance.
  • Provide specialist technical direction, advice and support on Work HSE matters in both a Corporate Governance and operational setting.
  • Support HSE business metrics.
  • Champion and support hazard identification and risk management through facilitating and participating in risk assessments.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the company and corporate risk registers.
  • Participate in safety inspection processes.
  • Ensure adherence to best practice HSE for Open Pit Iron Ore Mining.
  • Be actively involved in the Agile Mining Contractor Management audit process.
  • Support and undertake ad hoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Safety and Compliance Manager

Essential requirements:

To be successful in gaining this position, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS
  • Cert IV TAE
  • Experience working in Health and Safety in Mining or Construction.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in WHS Auditing & Training.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of work health and safety legislation
  • Experience in Document Control
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and high level of computer literacy
  • Understanding of safety aspects of mining and/or heavy industry
  • Competent and experienced using safety, risk and compliance systems.
  • Experienced in incident investigation, ICAM & 5 Why's
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 9001:2015

Additional requirements:

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Hold a full driver's license.
  • Be Adelaide based and have regular site visits to remote sites and operations.
