- Do you remember why you became an audiologist in the first place?
- Are you looking for a role that will reawaken that initial desire? One that challenges you to provide your best version of clinical care without placing you in ethically-compromising situations?
- Do you desire to be a better audiologist each day than you already are now because our clients – children & adults – need us to be?
- Do you want to be rewarded for providing compassionate and high quality clinical experiences that help people hear and communicate better, instead of being rewarded primarily for meeting sales-driven targets?
If your answer to the above is a resounding "YES", then read on.
About Hear With Me | Audiology CareAt Hear With Me, we are trying to provide a fresh approach to audiology care that values the person and their needs before anything else. We believe in providing warm, honest, comprehensive, and personalised audiology care to all our patients and their loved ones. We want each client, family member and enquirer to have an exceptional experience from their first interaction with us to the minute they leave, and we want to help them hear and communicate better. You will help us achieve our aims of providing 10/10 experiences to all our patients and referrers and aim to build long-term partnerships with them.
Hear With Me was founded by Dr Gerard William, a hearing-impaired audiologist with deep roots in clinic work, research, and teaching. Dr Gerard created purpose-driven Hear With Me from his personal experiences of hearing loss to offer a profoundly improved patient and doctor experience, rooted in compassion and excellence.
We are a team of 3 (principal audiologist and two admin/marketing staff) who operate out of Heidelberg/Ivanhoe and Melbourne CBD. With a focus on ethical practice and patient-centred care, you will directly contribute towards a team known for its outstanding service and remarkable patient satisfaction as evidenced by over 170 5-star Google Reviews.
Your RoleWe're seeking a part-time accredited audiologist who shares our passion for delivering consistently exceptional, ethical and personalised care. We expect you to work part-time over 3 days initially, and as your workload increases, you will have the opportunity to turn the role into a full-time position. The role will be split between our Heidelberg/Ivanhoe and Melbourne CBD locations.
The role will primarily encompass adult and paediatric hearing assessments, safe and effective ear wax removal (microsuction and curette), tinnitus counselling as well as supporting patients long-term with their hearing rehabilitation and hearing aids across 8 major brands.
We're looking for an exceptional Audiologist who truly cares – not just that they can perform hearing assessments, hearing aids and wax removals, but genuinely care about the people we serve, and help them feel seen and heard. You must feel comfortable with working across all demographics and cultures and help them feel at home with us. You will play a crucial role in providing 10/10 experiences for each patient, particularly for children and their families.
Hence, we expect candidates to have a minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification audiological experience to be considered for this position.
But if you're technically excellent, possess exceptional soft skills, and are excited about making a difference each and every day, we want you to be a part of our team.
Key Responsibilities- Exceptional Care: Provide warm, personalised, comprehensive, and honest care at every interaction. Create outstanding (10/10) experiences for each person who sees us.
- Technical Excellence: Conduct thorough and accurate hearing assessments for adults and children that pave the way for better communication and understanding.
- Excellence with children: Create a fun and memorable experience for each child so that they are happy to return. Prior experience working with children is an essential requirement for this role.
- Create connections with patients and families, explaining results and options in a way that's clear, empathetic, and reassuring.
- Tinnitus Management: Assess and support patients with tinnitus, continuously upskilling to stay current with best practices.
- Carefully perform ear wax removals (children 8+ only) by microsuction or curette, putting patients' comfort and safety first.
- Embrace a no-pressure approach as you assist patients through hearing aid trials and hearing rehabilitation, understanding that everyone's journey is unique, and fostering their confidence, proficiency and understanding along the way. Focus on rehabilitation excellence derived through evidence-based clinical research and patient feedback to achieve person-centred goals, with a focus on helping them to hear better and reducing the social and emotional barriers in their lives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our referring ENTs and GPs and make things easier for them and their clients too. Work with our internal team to achieve company-wide goals.
- Motivation: Be more motivated by exceptional client experiences (10/10) and achieving the needs and goals of each client ahead of financially-driven hearing aid sales numbers. Be proactive to find tasks to grow our patients (new and returning) when not busy with clinical work.
- Device Knowledge: Be open to learning across all of our hearing aid brands on offer and becoming equally competent with each one. Keeping proactively up-to-date with new manufacturer launches with traditional hearing aids and upcoming innovations as they arise.
- Administration: Keep meticulous records efficiently, ensuring that every detail is captured and every promise is upheld. This will be through our customer relationship management software (for example, and not limited to, Coreplus and NOAH). Adhere to conditions under the Hearing Services Program (HSP), Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), Medicare, NDIS and private health insurance programs and collaboratively ensure that we comply with their requirements at all times.
- Competitive Salary: Enjoy a salary that reflects your expertise and commitment.
- Supportive Environment: Work with a great team dedicated to a shared vision and without the pressures of sales targets, quotas or commissions.
- Flexibility with work hours: We can negotiate your hours of work within reasonable limits.
- Collaboration: Opportunity to work closely with local ENTs and GPs as well as a small administrative team dedicated towards crafting a 10/10 patient experience.
- Professional Development: Access to ongoing learning and growth opportunities.
- Ethical Practice: Engage in deeply satisfying work where your focus is on helping patients to make their best decisions. Enjoy helping others without the guilt of having to compromise your actions.
- Career Growth: While Hear With Me is already a desirable company for patients, we are still growing and there is potential for expanding hours, roles, and leadership opportunities as the practice grows. This may be your best move yet.
- Qualification: A (minimum) Masters of Audiology
- Accreditation with Audiology Australia: This means that you have already completed your internship through Audiology Australia. (This is not the same as having a QP number.)
- Working with Children Check (VIC): Must have a card or eligible to have one.
- A compelling reason for wanting to join our team: Dr Gerard grew up with hearing loss and receiving audiology services himself and needs to know that you are also committed to transforming the experience of each incoming patient and their loved ones. Please tell us your audiology story sharing why our patients will want to know your story too.
Compassion: Genuine care and the ability to connect with patients, including children and their families. This extends to all other interactions, such as ENTs, GPs, reception staff and translators.
Honesty: You are honest and will not compromise on doing the right thing, each and every time. Your commitment to warm, personalised care is unwavering, and you believe that each person deserves your full attention. You are honest even when no one is watching.
- Adaptability: We expect you to be flexible to work across our Heidelberg/Ivanhoe and CBD locations. You recognise that we are a growing small business and there will be times of uncertainty requiring resilience and innovation. You will proactively help to take a lead role in developing our systems using evidence-based and patient-based feedback to ensure audiological and clinical excellence and be comfortable with taking on new perspectives and approaches as needed.
- Growth Mindset: Desire to grow with the company and take on leadership roles in the future. Willingness to stay updated with advancements in the field and across all brands of hearing aids, and participate in marketing activities, including those for our company's social media. Familiarity with private, Medicare, NDIS and Hearing Services Program (HSP) systems or willing to learn quickly.
- Working rights in Australia: We cannot consider visa sponsorship for various reasons.
