Your Opportunity

As the Manager, Student Management System you will:

  • Lead and manage team and project activities to ensure that the day-to-day use of the TechnologyOne Student Management System and TAFE Queensland's configuration is functional and being utilised in accordance with business requirements, processes and procedures.
  • Lead and manage changes to the student management system configuration, documentation, testing and quality assurance activities.

This position reports to the Director, Student Systems Support.

This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 26 June 2026, unless otherwise determined.

The position will be based primarily at Mount Gravatt, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of direct reports to achieve strategic objectives, team goals and day to day activities.
  • Lead and oversee the establishment of TAFE Queensland's configuration of the TechnologyOne Student Management System and associated interfaces.
  • Lead and oversee testing activities relating to releases and changes to the student management system and associated interfaces of the TechnologyOne Student Management System and TAFE Queensland configuration.
  • Lead team members in designing, developing and maintaining business process automation forms aligned to student management system process flows.
  • Facilitate TAFE Queensland wide regular student management system user forums specific to changes to configuration and system wide updates.
  • Manage and report on student management system service levels management and tracking, recording and reporting on service requests.
  • Manage and oversee confidential data investigations in the student system and legacy systems.
  • Manage, maintain and update end-to-end business processes & functional documentation, e.g. Customer Journey Maps, Work Instructions and Fact Sheets.
  • Oversee the service delivery framework for the student management system and associated interfaces within a tiered service model aligned to TechnologyOne's support model.
  • Ensure relationships are maintained with key stakeholders and that communication is comprehensive, timely and accurate.
  • Provide expert advice to regional user groups in functional areas of TAFE Queensland's student management system and associated interfaces.
  • Keep informed of higher education and VET policy, sector trends, legislative and technological innovations by developing and maintaining internal and external networks.
  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the values of Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated high level of expertise and experience in student management systems and interfaces, including the ability to understand and develop best practice business processes, work instructions and supporting documentation in a large complex and environment.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of TAFE Queensland's implementation of Technology One's suite of products for Student Management and solid working knowledge of other vendor products that are part of the TAFE Queensland implementation.
  • Demonstrated high level of analytical, conceptual and innovative problem-solving skills including the ability to independently research, analyse, develop and recommend options and implement solutions to enhance business performance and improve business processes.
  • Proven experience in delivering complex ICT system support and advice including an ability to articulate practical strategies for the resolution of quality outcomes within tight timeframes and deadlines.
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of internal and external key stakeholders and an ability to manage a high performing team.

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Knowledge of the TechnologyOne Product Suite including Student Management System (SMS), TAFE Queensland Student Management System (SMS) configuration and relevant SMS interfaces and IT applications would be highly desirable.
