The Role
We're excited to introduce Layal – a vibrant new venue that celebrates the rich culture, cuisine, and nightlife of the Middle East. Layal blends authentic Middle Eastern dishes with immersive shisha experiences and captivating live entertainment.
We're seeking Cooks and Kitchen Stewards to join our dynamic Food & Beverage teams at Layal. In these roles, you'll play a vital part in delivering exceptional dining experiences and ensuring the smooth operation of our operation.
As a Cook, you'll:
- Prepare and present authentic Middle Eastern dishes to the highest standards
- Assist with daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and service
- Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP compliance)
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
As a Kitchen Steward, you'll:
- Maintain general cleanliness and sanitise all kitchen surfaces
- Operate commercial dishwashers and handle cleaning chemicals safely
- Manage rubbish removal, assist with deliveries, and restock supplies
- Support the kitchen team to ensure smooth service
About You
We're looking for passionate, reliable, and hardworking individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment.
You'll bring:
- For Cooks: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) and experience in middle eastern cuisine
- For Kitchen Stewards: 1–2 years' experience in a similar role within a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong understanding of food safety and OH&S practices
- Ability to work across a rotating roster, including late nights, weekends, and public holidays
