About the Role:
Join our team as a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Oncology, Symptom and Urgent Review Clinic (SURC) on a Full-Time ongoing basis, working within the Chemotherapy Day Unit (CDU) based Moorabbin Hospital.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Oncology (SURC) is an experienced senior Clinical Nurse based in CDU and receive referrals from across all Monash Health campuses. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Oncology (SURC) supports Oncology patients undergoing anti-cancer treatment, utilising their advanced clinical assessment skills to assist patients with symptom management, development of a plan of care, education, supportive care screening and referral with an aim to minimise emergency department presentations and acute admissions. The role will not only identify areas for enhancement but also champion clinical improvement strategies, backed by analytics and reporting, to address practice challenges and deliver positive change.
Elevating the visibility of the Advanced Practice Nurse team within the organisation is another essential aspect of the role. This requires proactive engagement with relevant stakeholders to advocate for improvements in clinical care, aligned with governance indicators and practice standards. Effective communication skills are paramount in fostering these relationships and leading clinical practice improvement endeavours.
About Us:
Since opening in 1975, the 147-bed Moorabbin Hospital has become one of Victoria's leading medical and research facilities, building a tradition of high-quality care for its community. Home to the Monash Cancer Centre, one of Victoria's premier integrated cancer treatment centres, provided in a longstanding partnership with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The Moorabbin Chemotherapy Day Unit is a 24 ambulatory care unit that operates Monday to Friday, 0700 to 2130. The unit treats, on average, 45 patients a day, ranging from patients with solid tumours to blood disorders.
About You:
You are an enthusiastic team player with good clinical and analytical skills, have the ability to navigate a range of systems and an ability to work autonomously. Through your willingness to engage with others, and through communicating effectively with a variety of key stakeholders, you will build your understanding of our complex operating environment. You can readily demonstrate:
A proven commitment to the principles of cancer care and evidence-based practice
You are an experienced senior Clinical Nurse with a broad working knowledge and skills relating to cancer care and anti-cancer therapies - essential
Demonstrated organisational skills to assess, plan, design, coordinate, implement and evaluate care delivery, including symptom management, development of a care plan, education, supportive care screening and referral.
Proven ability to work autonomously as well as a member of the multidisciplinary team
Highly developed communication, negotiation, conciliation and stakeholder engagement skills
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, organisational and time management skills
Lead quality assurance activities to ensure activity and performance targets are met.
Post Graduate Qualification in Cancer Nursing, essential
Anti-cancer drug administration course (ADAC) credentialed
Proven leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
