The world is making the shift to cleaner energy, slowly. The planet is changing, fast.
That's why Akaysha builds, owns, and operates the most powerful mega-scale battery storage solutions of today, and it's why we'll continue to build more. But what we are really building is a better future for everyone we share the planet with.
With a 30GWh+ portfolio spanning APAC, the Americas, and the EU and a global team of over 200, should we slow down, or should the world catch up?
As a Site Operations Manager you'll join the Technical Operations team that recently oversaw the commencement of operations at Waratah Super Battery - currently the most powerful BESS in the Southern Hemisphere.
This position is based on site at Akaysha's Orana BESS (415MW/1660MWh). Orana is Akaysha's second largest site and a unique project due to its configuration, combined BESS technology, and novel offtake agreement – it's also our first 4hr battery.
Focused on establishing site safety, environmental and operational systems; the Site Operations Manager, Orana will collaborate closely with the project delivery team as this asset transitions from construction to commissioning phase. Pivotal to the set-up of ongoing operations, you'll provide oversight, leadership and direction on an extensive equipment set; from HV connection points right through to Tesla Megapack units.
This role is a critical role for operations on one of our largest assets and will:
Lead site safety and ensure WHS compliance through the development and oversight of WHS, environmental, and emergency management plans, including hazard controls and work scope reviews. Act as the site HV Operating Authority, overseeing electrical safety through procedure implementation, role authorizations, outage approvals, and maintenance of compliance records and competencies. Represent Akaysha Energy on site by managing stakeholder engagement and conducting site tours with internal and external parties. Manage preventative maintenance planning, equipment outages, and site spares inventory to ensure operational reliability and compliance. Oversee non-electrical site operations and maintenance, including facilities and utilities, while monitoring and reporting on safety, environmental, and performance metrics. Making an impact in this role will rely on experience across the following areas:Demonstrated capability in safety management and leadership, with a proven track record of leading teams in safety compliance, implementing safety plans, and fostering a culture of accountability. Skilled in electrical operations and maintenance, with hands-on experience operating and maintaining high and low voltage systems, as well as proficiency in SCADA and maintenance management tools. Strong background in stakeholder management, with experience engaging a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including technical, commercial, and executive groups. Proficient in systems development, with experience designing and embedding safety, environmental, and operational systems aligned with industry standards and best practices.
Orana is based in NSW. The position requires site attendance during business hours; key local towns are Wellington, Dubbo and Orange.
Our people are Akaysha's greatest asset. We support career growth and wellbeing through initiatives such as:Hybrid and remote-compatible workplace, where flexibility is balanced with connection and every team member can do their best work, wherever they are.
