About the role
The Resource Recovery Solutions Specialist supports each of WSG's divisions in identifying existing and developing resource recovery solutions for our diverse, national customer base. This will involve undertaking a thorough review of existing available resource recovery solutions in market as well as staying up to date with new innovations and new market entrants as they become available, including pilot opportunities.
This strategic position will support the business in ensuring that we maximise resource recovery and circular economy opportunities for our growing and varied customer base who are increasingly seeking improved diversion outcomes. As options evolve, we are seeking a dedicated person to be the point of call for our customer facing and operational teams in putting in place bespoke solutions for each customer's needs.
This role is critical in helping WSG to establish themselves as the leader in the provision of best-in-class waste management solutions in the Australian waste industry.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support the business in ensuring that we maximise resource recovery and circular economy opportunities for our customers to achiever their diversion outcomes.
- Identify existing and developing resource recovery solutions for our diverse, national customer base, including staying up to date with new innovations and new market entrants as they become available, including identification of pilot opportunities.
- Utilise strong research and analytical skills, supported by understanding the technical aspects of waste types and resource recovery treatment processes.
- Develop and maintain commercial relationships.
- Driven by a passion for resource recovery, with a natural curiosity and strong problem-solving ability.
- Determine potential to partner in R&D opportunities and other innovation, to address current gaps in recovery solutions for significant waste streams.
- Undertake systematic reviews of certain waste streams to develop an overview for the business of potential solutions and how they apply in certain commercial environments.
- Demonstrate a high-level familiarity and understanding of emerging international trends and technology.
Experience & Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or other relevant fields desirable.
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability, resource recovery and the circular economy.
- Minimum ten years' experience within the waste management, resource recovery, and / or circular economy areas.
- Valid drivers licence
- Self-starter who can both think strategically (considering a broad range of factors when solving/prioritising issues and making decisions) and work within the detail in completing the necessary actions.
- Action orientated, with strong time management and organisational skills resulting in the ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Determined problem solver who is committed to finding solutions to difficult challenges and who can innovate to achieve outcomes.
- Strong research, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
- A level of commercial acumen to be able to undertake high level assessments of commercial benefits and understand how to accommodate WSG and the customer's commercial needs while assessing various solutions.
- Ability to understand the technical aspects of CERRWM solutions being reviewed.
- Emotional intelligence & relationship building and management across a broad range of stakeholders, and a strong collaborator mindset.
