About the Role

We are seeking a Male Disability Support Worker to join our team at YH Support – VIC. The role involves providing tailored support and assistance to a young participant on the autism spectrum, based in the Oakleigh South, VIC area.

This is a casual position, with shifts scheduled on Saturdays between 9am and 1pm.

Interest in pottery, crafts, and handyman work is mandatory to better engage with the participant.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing personalised care and support to clients with a range of disabilities, including assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and community engagement
  • Advocating for client needs and ensuring their rights and choices are respected
  • Developing and implementing personalised support plans in collaboration with clients and their families
  • Facilitating social, recreational, and educational activities to promote clients' independence, health, and wellbeing
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and records in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality, integrated support

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in a similar disability support or community services role, preferably in a casual or flexible capacity
  • A Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of person-centred care and the ability to tailor support to individual needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with clients, families, and colleagues
  • A passion for empowering individuals with disabilities and a commitment to promoting their independence and inclusion in the community
  • A current First Aid certificate and a valid driver's licence
