Factory Hand

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Factory Hand / Glazing Assistant to join our team. This role involves assisting in the fabrication and preparation of glass and aluminium products in the factory, as well as carrying out on-site glazing installations. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on attitude, a strong focus on safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment both in the workshop and on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

Factory Duties:

• Assist in the cutting, edging, and handling of glass sheets and aluminium frames.
• Prepare materials for delivery and installation (e.g., packing, loading/unloading).
• Operate machinery and hand tools (e.g., glass cutters, grinders, drills).
• Read and interpret glazing plans and job sheets.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
• Support qualified glaziers and fabricators with production tasks.

Installation Duties:

• Install glass panels, windows, shopfronts, balustrades, and other glazing systems on-site.
• Load and secure glass and materials for transport to job sites.
• Use suction lifters, glazing tools, sealants, and other specialised equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and site protocols at all times.
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors, builders, and team members.
• Assist in measuring and marking out locations for installation when required.

Requirements:

• Experience in glazing, construction, or fabrication (preferred but not essential).
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Physically fit and capable of lifting and handling glass and heavy materials.
• Valid driver's licence (essential).
• White Card / Construction Induction Card (essential).
• Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings and job specs.
• Forklift licence (preferred but not essential).
• Strong focus on safety and care when handling glass products.
