Data Management Lead (x2)

Location: Canberra

Contract: Multi-Year, Commencing December 2025

Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required)

Cynosure Consulting Group is seeking a Data Manager with 8+ years' on demonstrated experience in leading the strategic direction of Master Data Management and Governance.

The Directorate of Estate Information System Governance (DEISG) Information Management develops and promotes Security and Estate Group (SEG) wide information management and governance in alignment with Defence Data Strategy 2.0.

Estate Data Management (EDM) is the Defence team handling quality control, modelling, extraction, uploading, and analysis of Estate Master Data. The team provides guidance, training and support for users of the Estate Data Governance Application (EDGA). The governance toolkit includes the Estate Data Dictionary (EDD), Estate Register Information Model (ERIM) and Spatial Data Management Plan (SDMP).

To be successful in this role you will be required to have substantial expertise to lead the strategic direction for Estate Master Data Management and Governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an overall strategy for Estate Master Data Management that supports the development and secure operation of data services, aligning with the Defence Data Strategy and Defence Industry requirements.
  • Create effective organisation policies, standards and guidelines for estate data management, in consultation with a large and complex network of stakeholders.
  • Experience managing large and complex datasets, and the transformation of data products that provide crucial insights into decision-making.

About You

  • Practical experience gained from working with multiple organisation to define and implement data management frameworks including policy, standard, guidelines, etc).
  • Experience in working with senior stakeholders within the Estate Group and other business domains across the enterprise.
  • Deep practical information / data governance and management experience.
  • Experience with the Government or Defence Data Division policy and guidance environment.
  • Ability to proactively engage and represent the Estate Group to the enterprise Data Management team.
  • Experience working for a major consulting firm in the data domain (desirable, not mandatory).
  • Canberra-based, with the ability to obtain (or already holding) an Australian Government Security Clearance.

Mandatory Requirement

Due to the nature of the work, only Australian citizens eligible for a security clearance will be considered. Security clearance sponsorship is available for successful candidates.
