ABOUT THE ORGANISATION:
Mount Isa Flexible School is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 21 Flexible Schools throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and flexible schools respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Teacher reports to the Head of Campus and Area Principal. They have delegated responsibility to develop and maintain learning and social inclusion responses of the campus. This includes:
- Planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs for young people.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the EREAFS objectives and planning.
- Works collaboratively with all staff to provide a safe, inclusive work environment for staff and young people.
- Is proactive in building relationships with young people, families/carers, and the community to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for each young person.

ABOUT YOU
- Certificate of Queensland Teacher Registration
- Relevant qualifications and skills
- Demonstrated high levels of ability in developing and implementing a range of learning choices which meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of young people
- Demonstrated ability differentiating curriculum (ACARA, QCAA, VET) to meet the needs of young people
- Demonstrated success in building relationships with young people at risk
- Highly developed interpersonal skills in the context of relating to work colleagues, young people and parents in a cross-cultural environment
- Commitment to participate in critical reflection around working together under Four Principles of operation: respect, safe and legal, honesty and participation. (The principles establish a "common ground" among staff, young people and families, where the means to resolve conflict, negotiate learning, recognise rights, responsibilities and consequences are modelled and explored, both within the group and individual).
