Job Purpose

The Tyre Technician is responsible for providing high-quality tyre services, including inspection, repair, replacement, and balancing of tyres on a wide range of vehicles. The role ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and assess the condition of tyres, including tread depth, wear patterns, and tyre pressure.
  • Perform tyre repairs, including puncture repairs, wheel balancing, and alignment checks.
  • Remove and replace tyres on various vehicles, ensuring the correct specifications and quality of work.
  • Safely operate equipment such as tyre changers, wheel balancers, and alignment machines.
  • Perform regular maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure safe operation.
  • Provide accurate and detailed reports on tyre conditions and recommend necessary actions to customers.
  • Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures and company policies.
  • Assist in the ordering and inventory management of tyres and related supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering questions related to tyre maintenance and safety.
  • Collaborate with the service team to ensure prompt and efficient service delivery.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Previous experience as a tyre technician or in a related automotive role.
  • Strong understanding of tyre types, specifications, and safe handling procedures.
  • Proficient in operating tyre-related tools and equipment.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to assess tyre wear and damage accurately.
  • Physically fit and capable of handling heavy equipment and manual tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues in a customer-friendly manner.
  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Valid driver's licence (manual preferred but not essential).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certificate II or III in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology or equivalent.
  • Previous dealership experience in a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of wheel alignment and suspension systems.
  • Forklift licence (for tyre stock handling).

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced, dynamic automotive service department.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and other typical elements of a mechanical workshop.
  • Manual handling and physical tasks will be required daily.
