We are looking to recruit a new Datacenter Technician to support our ongoing rollout in Sydney, Australia. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and to grow with us. As we expand, there is potential for more responsibilities and career advancement over time.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, rack, and cable enterprise-grade servers and networking equipment in the Sydney data center.
  • Diagnose hardware issues (server crashes, component failures, connectivity problems) and replace or repair components to minimize downtime.
  • Perform regular health checks on servers and infrastructure (e.g., testing hardware, checking environmental conditions).
  • Respond to urgent on-site service requests on short notice (often within 1–2 days) to address critical hardware issues or deploy new equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with enterprise-grade server equipment (assembling, racking, and diagnosing hardware/software issues). You should be comfortable building servers and troubleshooting issues in a hands-on capacity.
  • Solid understanding of computer hardware components and basic familiarity with server operating systems or firmware tools for diagnostics.
  • Reliable transport to reach the data center (whether via car or public transit) whenever required.
  • At least 18 years old (due to insurance requirements).
  • Can lift and maneuver hardware (servers, rack equipment) safely, as needed (approximately 20 lbs).

Position Details:

  • Approximately 5–10 hours per week. Note that workload may vary depending on demand – some weeks may have fewer tasks and others more, with a range of up to 10 hours (flexibility is key).
  • We will pay a flat hourly rate of $90 AUD per hour plus transportation/travel costs.
  • This role offers flexibility in scheduling. While you need to respond quickly to urgent needs, you can arrange non-urgent visits around your availability. It's an ideal position for someone seeking part-time hours or supplemental income with a flexible arrangement.
