Communications and Engagement Coordinator

Greater Melbourne Area, Australia StreetSmart Australia Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Communications and Engagement Coordinator (0.6 FTE) is a newly created role designed to strengthen how StreetSmart connects with donors, partners, and the public through powerful storytelling, thoughtful content strategy, and coordinated communications.

Unlike our former digital execution roles, this position leads the strategic direction and management of our communications ecosystem ensuring that every piece of content, across every channel, is purposeful, consistent, and inspiring. You'll work closely with our digital and brand agencies to bring campaigns and stories to life, guiding web content, SEO, SEM, and performance reporting, rather than producing them hands-on.

You'll oversee the planning and delivery of compelling written content across web, social, donor communications, proposals, and reports, ensuring StreetSmart's impact and voice are clearly articulated - particularly for high-value partners and donors within the philanthropic sector . A major focus will be driving acquisition and engagement strategies for our key campaigns — including CafeSmart, SleepSafe, and new initiatives - helping to attract new audiences while deepening relationships with our existing supporters.

This is a part-time role for a strategic communicator who can bring together creativity, data, and collaboration, shaping how StreetSmart tells its story, grows its reach, and builds lasting donor engagement.

ABOUT YOU

You're an experienced communicator and strategist who can translate ideas into authentic, well-crafted narratives that connect people to purpose. You bring strong writing and editing skills, and understand how to tailor content for different audiences and mediums.

You're confident managing agencies and partners, with solid understanding of web content management, SEO, SEM, and how to interpret performance insights to guide improvements. You're skilled in campaign planning, from concept through to delivery, and understand how to balance creative storytelling with audience growth and donor acquisition goals.

You enjoy collaborating across teams, juggling priorities, and bringing structure to creative work. You think strategically but aren't afraid to get hands-on when needed. Most of all, you're motivated by impact helping StreetSmart share its story in ways that build understanding, inspire action, and create change.

Please see the position description for Key Selection Criteria.
