About The Team
Our
Operations
team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.
The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
About The Opportunity
Manage the provision of inspection, testing, maintenance and minor renewals activities to ensure the operational availability of the signalling infrastructure and operational safe working systems in compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
Responsibilities Of The Role Include, But Not Limited To
- Performing and monitoring of engineering inspections on signalling equipment
- Supporting maintenance teams with fault finding
- Investigating and reporting on signalling failures including wrong side failures and SPAD's
- Supporting the development of Annual Works Management Plan
- Development and implementation of methods to monitor relevant KPI's.
- Review of KPI's and implementation of controls as necessary.
- Development of methods to monitor and analyse signalling faults, particularly recurring and no cause found.
- Implementation of methods and strategies to reduce signalling faults.
- Attendance at major incidents as nominated.
- Arrangement of special needs-based inspection and testing of signalling equipment and report as to its condition and suitability for continued use.
- Development and monitoring of audit and inspection and testing programmes to ensure maintenance activities are in accordance with ARTC requirements and any statutory obligations applicable to the jurisdiction.
- Assistance with the development of MPM and CAP programmes and submissions.
- Participation in ARTC initiatives such as the SPAD and Signal Fault Reduction Committees.
- Ensure fair and equitable workplace practices and behaviours are complied with, creating a discrimination free workplace in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Ensure that policies and procedures that relate to people, culture and development are effectively practiced and administered within the respective work site.
- Identify skills gaps and training needs and implementing signal training programs for Signals staff and Apprentices.
- Ensure compliance with ARTC's Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements, responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities.
- Promote a safety culture within the team to conform with current Work Health and Safety (WH&S) and relevant Rail Safety legislation.
- Ensure that injuries are properly reported, and that any injured employees are provided both a safe and timely return to work.
What do we want from you?
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, and or relevant industry experience.
- ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or demonstrated ability to attain as per Signals Competency Assessment (EST
- Drivers Licence Class C.
- Superior knowledge of signalling infrastructure and systems.
- Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the management of safety.
- Eligibility for Corporate Membership of the Institute of Engineers or the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers.
- Experience in signalling maintenance management.
- Experience in the administration and management of maintenance and minor renewals projects.
- Proven problem resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desirable
- Up-to-date knowledge of latest signalling technologies.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen.
- Sound knowledge of standards for signalling infrastructure including network rules.
- Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety principles and relevant rail safety legislation.
