Boilermaker Welder (Casual)

Role:

JWS are recruiting for a Boilermaker to join our SIMS (structural remediation crew). We have a long-term contract for ongoing maintenance and shutdown works in the Southwest region.

Roster:

  • Dayshift: 7 days on – 7 days off roster

  • 12hrs shifts

  • Drive IN - Drive OUT

  • Immediate start required

We are looking for individuals with structural remediation experience who thrive on working in team environments and developing collectively.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Boilermaker Trade qualification

  • Able to pass weld test to AS 4041 1G Pipe Test & AS1554.1 structural standard essential

  • Valid Driving License

  • Working at Heights (within 2 years)

  • Confined Space (within 2 years)

  • Construction Induction Card (White or Blue card)

  • Rigging and Forklift tickets would be beneficial

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and site medical testing

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Inspection & Assessment: Identifying damage or wear in steel structures, such as cracks, corrosion, or misalignment, and evaluating the extent of repairs needed.

  • Welding & Fabrication: Using welding techniques to repair or replace damaged sections of steel, including beams, grid mesh, supports, or frames, ensuring they meet structural requirements.

  • Reinforcement: Strengthening weakened structures by adding additional supports, welds, or braces to restore stability and safety.

  • Alignment & Fitting: Ensuring all components are properly aligned before welding/fitting to maintain the structure's overall integrity.

  • Safety Compliance: Following safety standards and codes to ensure that all repairs meet regulatory requirements, particularly in high-risk environments.

  • Collaboration: Working alongside other tradespeople on-site to ensure repairs are done efficiently and safely.
