Locomotive Driver Assistant

Enjoy being outdoors, staying active and seeing new parts of town? As a Locomotive Driver Assistant at Wilmar Sugar and Renewables, you'll work closely with a Locomotive Driver to safely and efficiently transport cane bins from across the region to the mill.

This position will be based at Pioneer Mill in North Queensland's Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Burdekin region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work.

The casual position involves shift work, weekend work and some overtime may be required.

Your Role in Action

• Rail Ready: Assist with assembling and moving empty/full sugar cane bins for delivery.
• Collaboration Crew: Support safe train movements through clear communication (e.g. hand signals and radio) with the Locomotive Driver.
• Safety Guardian: Keep a watchful eye on train movements and site activity to maintain a safe working environment.
• Back on Track: Monitor sugar cane bins and rail lines and report any damage.
• Housekeeping Hero: Maintain cleanliness on the Locomotive and perform routine servicing as required.

Your Winning Combination

A 'C' class driver's licence is essential for these roles, which serve as a stepping stone toward becoming a Locomotive Driver. Candidates must have strong communication skills, be a team player and bring high energy with a passion for working outdoors.
