						The Role
We're seeking a skilled Boilermaker / Welder who is certified for confined spaces work and has hands-on experience with aluminium welding/fabrication and tank / tanker maintenance works (bitumen tanker experience strongly preferred). You'll be part of a team fabricating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying heavy vehicle tankers and associated components (burner tubes, structural repairs, lining, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble and weld structural steel, aluminium and tank components to drawings and specifications
 - Perform repairs and maintenance on tanker bodies (bitumen, fuel, chemical, etc.), including burner tubes, internal piping, baffles, etc.
 - Work in confined spaces (entering tank compartments, internal repairs) in compliance with safety permits / procedures
 - Aluminium welding / fabrication work (sheet, plate, extrusion)
 - Perform inspection, testing, and quality checking (e.g. weld integrity, pressure testing, leak checks)
 - Collaborate with engineers / designers / fitters to modify or retrofit components
 - Mobile / on-site work when required (attending field repairs)
 - Maintain documentation (work orders, welding logs, inspection reports, safety permits)
 - Assist with general workshop duties as needed (cutting, grinding, preparing surfaces, etc.)
 
Essential Requirements / Qualifications
- Trade qualification as a Boilermaker / Metal Fabricator / Welder
 - Confined Spaces certification (ticket)
 - Proven experience working with aluminium welding / fabrication
 - Experience in tank / tanker work (bitumen tanker experience is a strong plus)
 - Demonstrated competency in MIG, TIG, SMAW or relevant welding processes
 - Ability to interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and specifications
 - Sound knowledge of safety, WHS, permit systems, gas testing, hazard control
 - Ability to work in confined and sometimes arduous environments
 - Strong attention to quality, welding standards and finish
 - Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
 - Own tools where applicable
 
Desired / Advantageous Skills
- Previous experience in heavy vehicle / trailer / tanker repair industry
 - Experience with burner tubes or bitumen burner systems
 - Experience with pressure / hydrostatic testing
 - Experience mobile / field service welding
 - Welding codes / certifications (e.g. AS/NZS standards)
